The Los Angeles Lakers have retooled their roster for the upcoming season. They have acquired Russell Westbrook from the Washington, signed veterans Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza. Their off season moves made them one of the oldest team now in the NBA.
The team were composed of great players with multiple All-Stars selection. They have James and Carmelo as two of the greatest scorers of all time and a top 15 players in Westbrook and Anthony Davis.
Many still doubt the team. Some critiques said the team won’t make it far in the playoffs with the lineup they have. Some said Russell Westbrook and LeBron James won’t fit as the two were both ball-dominant players.
James’ former teammates in Cleveland believe that the team has a very good chance of winning the NBA Championship but one of James’ teammate seems not please with the current roster they have.
Channing Frye doesn’t agree with Kendrick Perkins and Richard Jefferson:
“I was listening to you. I don’t agree with you. I love Bron. I love AD. I like Melo. I like Russell Westbrook. It is 2021. There’s not enough balls to go around. … In the playoffs, it’s a big ‘what-if’. This old a– team has to make it 82 games to the playoffs,” said Frye on ‘Road Trippin’.
Frye explained that the team have too ball-dominant players in the team. They have AD, Melo, Westbrook and James. He questioned the age of the team and if their core can even play all 82 games.
Jefferson: “Let’s assume health for every team.”
Frye: “Oh, healthy for every team? This team wins a championship.”
Jefferson: “Well, they’re not better than Brooklyn. Yeah, we’ll argue that point. They’re not better than Brooklyn.”
But after RJ said that if all teams were healthy, Frye has agreed that the team will win the championship but RJ said that Brooklyn are still better team.
Well, Jefferson wasn’t wrong and he does have a point. The Nets are younger and have fresher legs and they have three of the best scorers in the league right now. Not to mention, they’ve added a 15-point scorer off the bench in Patty Mills.
Let’s see if the two teams will meet in the NBA Finals.
