Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan formed a close relationship during their brief shared time in the league. The two shared the court as foes from 1996 to 1998 and 2001-2003.
When Jordan retired in 1998, Kobe and the Los Angeles Lakers won a three-peat from 1999-2002. Many compared Kobe as a similar player to Jordan and some even compared Kobe as the clone of Jordan, having the same type moves, being clutch, and doing it on both ends of the floor.
Kobe always asked Jordan for advice during and after his NBA career. He would often text and call Jordan. The two had a brotherly relationship with each other.
During Kobe’s interview with Jimmy Kimmel on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ show, Kobe told a story about him and Michael having a dinner. During the dinner, MJ told him that his 1991 version would kicked Kobe’s ass even on his peak year.
Kobe being Kobe, told MJ that it’s not gonna happen and just enjoy his food.
“(The) last time we had dinner he was talking about ‘My year in 1991 vs your peak year, I would’ve kicked your a**’. I said ‘Mike, come on now, enjoy the salad. We both know that’s not gonna happen.”
Mike and Kobe are known to be two of the toughest players in NBA history. Aside from being so good on basketball, they’re also known with their ‘trash talks’ and ‘mind games’. The two were arguably the greatest competitors the NBA has ever seen.
