Russell Westbrook is one of the most underappreciated NBA stars in the league right now. The 2017 NBA MVP averaged his fourth triple-double in a regular season last year and even help the Washington Wizards make the playoffs despite having a bad start last season.
NBA legend and TNT analyst Charles Barkley even said that Westbrook is the only player he has ever seen who puts in the kind of effort he does. He added that even Michael Jordan didn’t play as hard as Westbrook does.
“If you don’t respect and admire Russell Westbrook there’s something wrong with you. I’ve never seen a player give maximum effort every single night like him. Even Jordan didn’t play as hard as Russell Westbrook does. And Michael is the greatest of all time. But this guy gives maximum effort every single play every single night.”
Westbrook is a very energetic and hardworking guy inside the court. He puts so much effort in every game he played. The only cons on his game are his shooting, shot selections and turnovers.
Some NBA fans said that Westbrook was stat padding his numbers but it wasn’t definitely easy to put triple-doubles on a nightly basis. Some even said that Westbrook only cares about his stats and not winning.
Well, stats don’t lie. In fact Westbrook’s teams are 139-47 when he gets a triple-double in a game, a winning percentage of 74.7%. At the end of the day, no stat matters more to Westbrook than wins.
