Giannis Antetokounmpo On Being Called The Best Player In The World: “I Am Giannis, I Am Not The Best Player In The World. LeBron Is Still The Best Player In The World”

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a successful season in the NBA last year winning the Finals MVP and an NBA championship for the Milwaukee Bucks. The ‘Greek Freak’ is now a two-time NBA MVP, one-time NBA All-Star MVP, one-time NBA champion and one-time Finals MVP. At a young age of 26 years old, Giannis has gotten the biggest achievements to his eight-year NBA career.

But Giannis doesn’t want to put all of his achievements on his head. He doesn’t want it all to grow on his head because he doesn’t want to stop doing the work to improve his game and become an even better player.

“I am Giannis,” Giannis said. “But calling me MVP, calling me champ, calling me the best player in the world, is something that might hold me back. And I don’t want anything holding me back. I want to look forward and be better.

Giannis even said that he wasn’t the best player in the world but Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James is. James will enter his 19th NBA season this year and received zero vote from the recent best player in the NBA poll.

I like being a hunter,” “I am not the best player in the world. I am telling you, I am not! KD, LeBron, Kawhi, Luka, Curry, AD might be. I am not. I am still hunting the All-Time Greats. LeBron is still the best player in the world.”

Giannis received 5 out of 10 possible votes from NBA executives and trainer for the best player in the NBA. He and Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant were tied in the said poll.

The five-time NBA All-Star also revealed during the media day that he’s talking with a sports psychiatrist every day to deal with his fear and anxiety.

“I was talking with a sports psychiatrist every day, he helped me be myself,” Giannis said. “The free throws were a mental issue and I want to continue like this in the next season. And I want to see if we can repeat this as a team. I want to see if we can do it again, myself, my teammates, the owners, everyone.”

The 6’11 forward’s main problem last season and mostly in the playoffs was his free throw shooting. Giannis free throw routine seems longer than what the NBA are allowing which is 10 seconds. Giannis was called for multiple free throw violations during the last year’s NBA playoffs.

Fans from the opposing teams were counting every time Giannis was going to the charity stripe and it became all-mental that he had too many air-balled free throw attempts.

Giannis and the Bucks will try to defend the thrown this upcoming 2021-22 NBA season. They have retained the championship core but loses a big role player in P.J. Tucker. The team also added two shooters in Grayson Allen and Rodney Hood.
