The Los Angeles Lakers had a busy off-season adding an NBA superstar, multiple veterans, former NBA All-Stars and a couple of young guy to their roster.
After acquiring Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards. The Lakers bring back 2020 NBA champions Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo. They have also added Wayne Ellington, Kent Bazemore, Trevor Ariza and DeAndre Jordan while LeBron James convinced his long-time friend Carmelo Anthony to join him in L.A.
Overall, the Lakers have nine players who’s age is 32 years old and above. Carmelo is the oldest player in the team at the age of 37-year-old while Talen Horton Tucker is the youngest at 20-years-old.
After their off-season moves, the narrative about the team is that they’re too old to compete for an NBA championship this year. James was aware of the narrative about his team and he finds it extremely funny.
During the media day last night in LA, James was asked how he feel about the criticism about the age his team and how does it motivate him?
“I’m excited for what’s the story for us this year but everyday there’s a process, everyday you know it’s all about the journey and just putting in the work.”
“The narrative about our age, I kind of laugh at it… I actually really do laugh at it, I’m not just saying that… Some of the jokes and memes have been extremely funny”
The ‘purple and gold’ will try to get their 17th NBA championship this 2021-22 season.
