It looks like the Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons partnership in Philadelphia is finally over. Embiid seems to had given up over the Simmons’ drama in Philly. The Sixers’ big man said something that could even worsen the situation.
Embiid said that their team were built around Simmons’ needs. He even added that the Sixers got rid of Jimmy Butler because of the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft.
“Our teams have always been built around his needs. So it’s just kind of surprising to see. Even going back to, the reason we signed Al, we got rid of Jimmy, which I still think was a mistake, just to make sure he needed the ball in his hands.”
Simmons has an irreparable relationship with his current team and he’s willing to sit the whole season just not to play another game for the Sixers.
According to the reports, Mattisse Thybulle, Danny Green, Tobias Harris and Embiid even planned to meet Simmons in California but were told not to go because the disgruntled playmaker wasn’t interested to meet them.
Simmons requested to be traded to any California teams but the Sixers couldn’t got a deal for him because their price was too high and the teams weren’t willing to give much for the 6’10 point guard.
