LeBron James, Anthony Davis Praises Carmelo Anthony After Vintage Performance: “A Couple Of Years Ago, Nobody Wanted Him”

The Los Angeles Lakers got their first win of the season after edging the Memphis Grizzlies, 121-118, at Staples Center on Monday night.

Carmelo Anthony caught fire in the game and scored 28 points off the bench to lead the Lakers to a victory. Anthony made ten of his fifteen field goals attempted and made six threes in the game. He also added 3 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Lakers’ superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis were asked about Anthony’s solid performance against the Grizzlies.

“A couple of years ago, nobody wanted him,” Davis said.

“He was counted out. Doubted. And he stayed the course. Stayed a professional and got a shot in Portland. Made a name for himself again. And he’s here now and doing the same thing, picking up where he left off. It’s an honor to have him on our team, an honor to play beside him.”

“He’s been doing it for quite a while, and it’s just beautiful to continue to see, especially when, you know, they gave up on him,” James said.

James also tweeted his appreciation of Anthony’s vintage performance.
