In the latest episode of Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Undisputed, Sharpe said that a healthy Los Angeles Lakers team are unbeatable.
“LeBron and Russ have gone out of their way to make sure that it does work,”
“That’s what you gotta do. You’ve got to find what the guys like, get to know each others’ families. You go to the gym, ‘where you want the ball? this is where I want the ball’ ‘how you see the game? this is how I see the game.’ And they did a great job of that.”
Sharpe said that LeBron and Russell Westbrook weren’t an ideal pairing but he added that the two are looking to make it work.
They went out to Vegas, had a couple of practice sessions early, and so I believe it’s going to work. I believe these guys are going to do everything to make sure it’s going to work. Ideal pairing? No, Skip, it’s not ideal. But when two people want something to work equally as bad, there’s nothing that they can’t do if they want it to work (…) If the Lakers stay healthy, we’re going to be the last team standing, we’re unbeatable.”
The Lakers made a major changes on their roster adding a superstar like Russell Westbrook, multiple NBA veterans like Carmelo Anthony, Trevor Ariza, DeAndre Jordan, Wayne Ellington and Kent Bazemore and bringing back Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo. The team also added a couple of young guys in Malik Monk and Kendric Nun. The Lakers have three players left from their lineup last season.
The primary narrative about the Lakers this season is that they’re too old to compete for the championship. The Lakers have nine players on their roster with an age of at least 32 years.
The biggest challenge for the team is to remain healthy throughout the whole season and come playoff time. Sure, they have the pieces and all the talent to win the championship but being a healthy team will play a big role on their campaign this upcoming NBA season.
